The Ensemble
SYMVOCE: A Symphony of Voices is an extraordinary group of talented singers celebrated for their ability to move fluently between vocal styles, from Renaissance polyphony to popular music. The ensemble began at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe in Central Florida, singing the finest in liturgical choral music alongside a vibrant concert repertoire. Members come from all parts of the United States, each bringing extensive choral and performance experience.
Freed from their church obligations, SYMVOCE’s repertoire continues to expand into unexpected territory — thrilling and delighting concert audiences throughout Central Florida and beyond.
Director
William Picher
Born to a musical family in Portland, Maine, Bill began organ lessons at age seven with his father, Frank Picher, and took up trumpet at thirteen — an instrument he has played throughout his career.
He holds music degrees from the University of Maine, the Eastman School of Music, and the Catholic University of America, and served eight years as a trumpet instrumentalist with the United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C., performing regularly at the White House, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and concert halls throughout the country.
